UTI Study Update
We are delighted to announce that we’ve met our target recruitment of 48 participants for #PReSUTINeB study. We’ll be following the progress of all involved over the coming months to see if immunotherapy treatment taken everyday in the form of a capsule for 3 months, can help prevent UTIs in people with neurogenic bladder.
The study is taking place at the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC) Stoke Mandeville Hospital and the Oxford Centre for Enablement.
James Cooper, Research Manager said: “Recurrent UTIs are a major issue
for people with neurogenic bladder dysfunction and affect their everyday life and mental well-being. The standard antibiotic approach does not always work effectively leaving those affected turning to other complimentary methods that may not work for them.
Antibiotic resistance is another growing issue so it will be interesting to see if immunotherapy may offer an alternative treatment option.”
Results from the study will be published later this year.
